Children and Back to School

Schools are opening up as the world tries to get back to “normal” but how do we manage potential stressors? If your child’s school is offering either virtual school or return to actual brick and mortar classrooms, this can be a tough decision.

For those families who choose to keep their children home for virtual school it is important to keep structure throughout the day to help support your own sanity as well as the educational needs of your children. Make sure children get plenty of rest and set up their work area in a environment with the least amount of distractions. Check up on your children throughout the day and take note of their non verbal communication to recognize if frustrations are increasing. Take time later in the day to process how the day went for them and provide as much support as possible.
